Marldon Parish Council Public Meeting

Published: 17 February 2026

Marldon Village Hall - community room - SAT 28th February 10am-12noon
Local Government re-organisation

Plymouth , Exeter , Torbay , Devon County and grouped District Councils have responded to a Consultation on how the Governance of Devon should be organised.
The Parish Council has arranged this meeting to explain, as far as it knows, that a response has been sent by Exeter / Plymouth which could affect Marldon.
Exeter / Plymouth have suggested that Torbay unitary be increased in population to match their own.
If Exeter/Plymouth’s proposal is accepted by Central Government, this would mean that 22 Parishes from South Hams and Teignbridge might be transferred into the Torbay Authority.
The Parish Council stresses that information / details are few but wanted to give the opportunity for the Parish to come together and to encourage response by the Parishioners on the Plymouth / Exeter proposal as well as the one proposed by South Hams
