Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in England is actively restructuring two-tier systems (county and district councils) into single-tier unitary authorities to improve service efficiency and deliver devolution. Driven by a December 2024 White Paper, proposals for new structures were due by November 28, 2025, with new councils operational by April 2028. .
